Should you try to get back together with your ex?

Have you just broken up? and are you thinking about whether or not you should try and get back together with your ex? First let me say I’m sorry to hear that you’ve broken up, I’ve been there myself and know what you’re going through.

At this time you will probably be feeling unsure about everything, and you’re wondering if getting back together with your ex is the best decision for you. There are several things that you need to do that will help you to decide if this is the right decision for you.

This will hopefully make you feel more confident about whether or not you are making the right decision. Here are a few points for you to think about, which may help you to answer your question of why getting back together with your ex is a good idea.

1. Do you really want to get back together with your ex.

The very first thing that you will need to think carefully about, is whether or not you actually have any desire to get back together with your ex. If you are unsure, or not willing to think about it, then making up with your ex will not be the best idea for you. If you have any reservations at all about it,for whatever reason, then should you get back with your ex, the chances are high that you will end up breaking up again.

When considering getting back together with your ex, you need to look at the good, and also the bad points of your relationship. Immediately following a break-up you tend to look upon your relationship with rose coloured glasses, and only see the good points. Be honest with yourself when considering this question, and don’t rush into it if it’s not going to work.

As both of you need to be committed to the relationship, it will be more difficult for your relationship to work if you have any lingering doubts, or concerns about it. So before you try and get back with your ex, make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons, and that your heart truly is set on getting back together with your ex.

2. Your ex wants to get back together.

After you have separated, you may find that your ex is letting you know that they would like to get together with you again. This may show up in little things like talking about your good times together, or they might be wanting to go on dates with you. This is an sign that your ex wants to get back together with you.

For your relationship to get back on track, and for you and your ex to get back together will depend on many things.  As it is going to take both of you trying, to make your relationship work, you need some sign that your ex is willing to work with you to repair your relationship.

3. Be willing to resolve problems.

If you and your ex decide that you are willing to get back together, then both of you need to be work together to solve the problems that caused your break-up.  You and your ex must be willing to sit down and talk about the problems that caused you to split up, then you both need to work together to resolve the problems.

Having identified where the problems are, you then need to work out a  solution for them. If you can manage to do this without it turning into a fight, then there’s a good chance that you may be able to make your relationship work this time.

4. Be willing to compromise.

Having come up with a solution to your problems, you both need to learn how to make compromises. Hopefully this will stop things getting so bad that it causes you to break up again. The compromise should not just be from one of you, but should be a joint effort. Once you have agreed to this, you both need to move on, and not play the blame game.

Deciding that you want to get back together with your ex is an important decision, so make sure that you are making it for the right reasons. I hope these tips will help you with making the right decision for you, and help you to get back together with your ex if that is what you want to do.
